Today we're having our March Layout classes! This month's theme is Lucky Me/Gratitude. I created some 4"x6" journaling cards for today's project, which you can download from my Google Drive.

Here's a look at the cards - they print three to sheet:

Here are the supplies I've gathered for this project:

1. Authentique "Renew" Collection Kit

2. Authentique "Renew" Circles and Scallops

3. Authentique "Renew" Hinges and Tabs

4. Authentique "Renew" Mini Notes

5. Paper Accents 12"x12" Brown Bag Envelope

These 12.25"x12.25" brown bags will form the base of our March layouts. Going with a theme of "Lucky Me" we will be using these layout bags to create our 12"x12" layouts and to collect photos, memorabilia and other ephemera to remind us that life is good.

6. Paper Accents Assorted Pockets, White

These adorable pockets will be added to both our layouts (to hold journaling and memorabilia) and to our file folder mini album.

As you know, I don't 100% pre-plan all my projects.
Additional products from my stash (dies, inks, tools, etc.) may appear during the class.
This list does represent everything I specifically ordered for this project, however, and I will work primarily from these products during the class.
"Lucky Me" Layout class will be TODAY at 2:00 PM Eastern USA time (Bo Bunny "Snow Play" Collection) and again at 9:00 PM Eastern USA time (Authentique "Renew" Collection) on my USTREAM channel.

NEW VIDEO: "Amazing Washi Bike", 12"x12" Layout

I spent yesterday afternoon making a layout. I had some paper and embellishments from the My Mind's Eye "Sweetest Thing" collection that I wanted to do something with.

I had a photo of Carol from Scrapadabadoo standing in the My Mind's Eye booth at CHA. They had an amazing washi-covered bike on display in their booth and she is posing with it in the photo. I thought is was a perfect photo to go with these papers.

I stamped the doilies from the collection in StazOn "Cotton White" ink on some leftover product packaging and cut it out. There are three areas of embellishment on the layout centered around these three doilies.

Quick Tip: The StazOn Cotton White ink pad comes with a reinker. The pad dries out very quickly, so for best results reink before each use.

Each area of embellishment also has a wood veneer heart from Studio Calico, five wood veneer hearts from Studio Calico, three gems from Recollections and some letters from My Little Shoebox.

These three clusters also have a piece of my homemade washi tape, and a piece of pink and white chevron paper. This ties the three main colors of the layout together - pink, yellow and aqua.

The title was done with Thickers from American Crafts in the Amy Tangerine "Goodness" font (white print) and Jewelry Box font (bubblegum).

I filmed this layout coming together for my YouTube channel. You can watch the video below, or click this link to watch it over on YouTube: Amazing Washi Bike.

Thanks for watching and have a GREAT day!

New Mini Album: "My Love" Envelope Album

Yesterday I finished my last Valentine project of 2012:

I used the We R Memory Keepers new Envelope Punch Board to make six envelopes from the Bo Bunny "Love Letters" paper collection.

I used the measurements for the "6-Bar" envelopes, which hold a 5" x 6 1/2" card. That way I could put a 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" cardstock page inside each envelope and still have room to bind the envelopes with the Zutter Bind-It-All.

To see the assembly, check out the USTREAM recordings here:

In the following week's shows, I finished (almost) decoarting the album. Here are pictures of the finished book:

I hope you enjoyed the finished project. It was a quick and easy album to make, and a great way to finish off the collection pack.

Now I am officially done with all Valentine projects for another year. Next Thursday we have the March installment of our Seasonal Layout series using the Bo Bunny "Snow Play" collection and the Authentique "Renew" collection. To see a fully supply list for the "Lucky Me" class, click here:

The Bo Bunny supplies stay the same each month as far as the papers, cardstock and embellishments go. You will need the 12.25" x 12.25" envelope, however, if you want to recreate the project exactly.

"Lucky Me" Layout class will be on February 28, 2013 at 9:00 PM Eastern USA time on my USTREAM channel.
I have USTREAM classes every Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Eastern USA time and then again Thursday evenings from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM Eastern USA time.

All classes and their recordings will be over on my USTREAM channel: Kathryn Scraps!

NEW LAYOUT: Travel Buddy, 12"x12"

Just a quick layout share today. I actually filmed this layout coming together so I could do a YouTube video, but my video editing software is on strike and I can't figure out what's wrong with it. :/

This is a photo I took from the Dulles Airport baggage carousel. I decided to let Teddy (my bear I've had since I was in utero - yes, I know that the name "Teddy" is not super original) out of the carry-on bag so he could breathe. He's getting pretty cranky in his old age, to be honest. :)

My big experiment for this layout was to not use a paper trimmer - all of these layers were cut by hand (well, with scissors) from papers in the Basic Grey "Soleil" collection.

The chipboard letters are actually from the Basic Grey "Lemonade" collection - ancient history! I used dots of "Buttercup" Liquid Pearls to break up all that fuchsia.

You can also see some of my homemade washi tape in the corner there.

Here I used a wood veneer camera from Studio Calico and some flair from Heidi Grace. I love that fabric heart flair - looks just like a brad, but less work!

I'm also addicted to putting her tiny flair dots in my wood veneer camera lenses. I like how the flair's shine mimics a real "lens" look.

I cut these tiny tags with the Cheery Lynn "Tags #2" Die from the GMUND white wood grain paper.

I used the white so I could dye them to match with my Distress Stains. That was a bit of an ordeal & I'm not 100% in love with how the colors turned out, but it's done! I used staples instead of strings through the holes for some added shine and texture.

Speaking of shine and texture, these gems and pearls from Kaiser Craft added a lot! I sprinkled them randomly to mimic the bokeh filter on the photo.

Quick Tip: To make elements like bling look "random" mix up the sizes and place some closer together and other farther apart. Trying to space elements the same size out evenly will make it look more engineered than random.

Hope you guys all had a GREAT weekend! I know that a lot of you in the USA are not totally done with the weekend (Happy Presidents Day!), so enjoy the holiday today!

Family Secrets Album Supply List

During last Thursday's show, Margaret Ann requested that I put up a blog post with the supply list for the upcoming "Family Secrets" Pocket Album. I will also be writing a separate post today with the supplies for the March layout + Easter/Spring folder album.

"Family Secrets" Album Supply List

1. Pocket with Tag Album

This 8.25"x4.25" pocket album is the base for our "Family Secrets" album.

When you purchase the album, you will get six pockets with holes punched for binding, six tags to fit inside the pocket and one sheet of extra heavy weight chipboard for the cover. All six pockets and six tags are cut from extra heavy premium kraft cardstock for a nice, thick pocket and smooth finish.

Since the album is cut from kraft cardstock, you'll still be able to play along if the rest of the supplies I've chosen are not to your taste. The neutral kraft envelopes will go with any paper collection you'd like to use!

2. Bo Bunny "Family Is" Collection Pack

3. Kathryn's "Family Is" Cardstock Pack

I worked with Carol from Scrapadabadoo to put together six sheets of colored cardstock that coordinate with the Bo Bunny "Family Is" collection. It is currently not listed on the Scrapadabadoo website, but the cardstock pack is available to purchase and ship.

To add the cardstock pack to your Scrapadabadoo order, write "Bill for Family Is Cardstock Pack w/ Shipping" in the "Additional Comments or Information" field in the "Billing Address" section during checkout.

4. Bo Bunny "Family Is" Noteworthy

5. Bo Bunny "Family is Crazy" Cardstock Sticker

6. Bo Bunny "Family is Nutz" Cardstock Sticker

 7. Bo Bunny "Family Is" Layered Chipboard

8. Bo Bunny "Family Is" Dimensional Stickers

9. Lawn Fawn "Say Cheese" Stamp Set

First of all, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

We're getting ready to start a new USTREAM album series this March: a humorous family album using the Bo Bunny "Family Is" collection.

I am really excited about this project and the Bo Bunny collection - I love how honest the protrayal of family life is on the papers. :)

Here is a picture of the album I'll be using:

Family Is Pocket Album

This 8.25"x4.25" pocket album is available in my shop now!
