Convertible Album-in-a-Box Online Class + Instruction Manual!

Hi, everyone!

This Saturday is National Scrapbook Day! In honor of our favorite national holiday, I will be doing a special USTREAM class to teach the convertible album in a box technique.

There were many requests both locally, and online for me to teach this class, so here it is! In this class, you'll learn to create a unique box from scratch. This seemingly simple box transforms when the lid is removed into a gorgeous paper bag album. The class will be offered online Saturday, May 5th starting at 3:00 PM Eastern USA time on my USTREAM channel.

Holding 24 4"x6" photos easily (with room for even more), this box is made entirely from paper and chipboard. During the class, we will build and cover the box, as well as create the album binding system.

Here is a picture of the original class project:

As a special treat for this very requested class and for National Scrapbook Day, I have actually written up an instruction manual that includes a supply list and all the measurements and directions you will need to complete this project beautifully. This 28 page manual costs $12.49 and includes 38 color photos illustrating the steps needed to complete the album, as well as 24 color photos with examples of decorated pages and tags.

Within 24 hours of purchasing the manual, you will be sent an email with a PDF of the manual. If you have not received an email with a PDF and it has been more than 24 hours since you received confirmation from PayPal that your payment was made, please contact me.

To purchase your (very special limited edition National Scrapbook Day only) convertible album-in-a-box instruction manual, please click the PayPal button below:

Thanks for stopping by & I hope to see you on National Scrapbook Day!

Kaiser Craft "Sweet Nothings" Album in a Box

Hi, everyone!

I just wanted to quickly post and let you know that I will be teaching three classes at Scrapbooks Plus in Chantilly, VA this month!

The first class will be on Saturday, April 28th from noon to 2:00 p.m. In this class, you'll learn to create a hardbound gift holder from scratch. Designed to hold tea bags, this little book could hold anything from gift cards to chocolate squares. It makes a perfect Mother's Day or Teacher Appreciation gift. Using the My Mind's Eye "Follow Your Heart" papers, this book tells the recipient how grateful you are to have them in your life.

Here is a picture of the class project:

Class supplies: Centering Ruler, Quick drying liquid glue (Scotch Quickdry), strong double-sided adhesive (Scor-tape or Red tape), Bone Folder, Paper Trimmer, Craft Knife, Scissors, Corner Rounder, Martha Stewart Score Board (if you don't have one, one will be available to share).

The second and third classes are both for the Kaiser Craft "Sweet Nothings" album-in-a-box. There were many requests to do this class again, so here it is ~ back by popular demand! In this class, you'll learn to create a unique box from scratch. This seemingly simple box transforms when the lid is removed into a gorgeous paper bag album. The class will be offered on Sunday, April 29th from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, April 30th from noon to 6:00 p.m.

The class is now offered in two versions: Kaiser Craft "Sweet Nothings" and "Choose Your Own Paper." In the original class, the Kaiser Craft "Sweet Nothings" paper collection frames your precious photos with dreamy vintage images, and is perfect for a Mother's Day gift. In the Choose Your Own Paper version, you'll pick up a supply list from the store and pick your own papers for the class.

Holding 24 4"x6" photos easily, this box is made entirely from paper and chipboard. During the class, we will build and cover the box, as well as create the album binding system and decorate the pages. No beginners, please.

Here is a picture of the class project:

Class supplies: Centering Ruler, Quick drying liquid glue (Scotch Quickdry), strong double-sided adhesive (Scor-tape or Red tape), dimensional adhesive (pop dots, foam tape), tape runner (ATG, Tombow), Bone Folder, Paper Trimmer, Craft Knife, Scissors, Corner Rounder, Purple Corner Chomper (if you don't have one, one will be available to share), Martha Stewart Score Board (if you don't have one, one will be available to share), Martha Stewart Photo Corner Punch (if you don't have one, one will be available to share).

If you're interested in signing up for any of these classes, please contact Scrapbooks Plus at (703) 263-9503.

Also today is Thursday, so please join me during my regularly scheduled USTREAM shows at 2:00 PM Eastern USA time and 9:00 PM Eastern USA time. This week we'll be continuing on with the front door album. I hope you'll be able to join us!

SOLD OUT: Mystery Boxes are Here Again!

Hi, everyone!

First of all, thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful comments you left for me here, on YouTube and on the Graphic 45 blog about the Graphic 45 Iron Scrappers challenge! You are all so sweet and I am so glad you enjoyed our challenge as much as we did. Laura and I had so much fun, and we'd like to thank Graphic 45 for sponsoring us, as well as all of you for checking us out and leaving such nice comments.

In other news, I did some decluttering in the scrap rooms yesterday and created three mystery boxes packed full of stuff! These Mystery Boxes are USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat Rate boxes FULL of papers & other goodies. The boxes are STUFFED and are sold by the pound.

Mystery Boxes #1 and #2:
These two boxes both weigh over nine pounds and are almost identical. They contain lots of paper, some beautiful cardstock that is fantastic for card making and using with your border punches (it scores and punches beautifully). There is paper from Graphic 45, K & Company, DCWV, Basic Grey and more! There are also some nice, big chipboard albums (ones we haven't used on the show yet, so no duplicates), some brand-new, full-size Colorbox Fluid Chalk ink pads in my three very favorite colors and a few other surprises!

I've decided to sell these two boxes for $89.95, which is less than $10.00 a pound. Shipping will be via the USPS Priority Mail Flat rate service and is $11.35 in the USA, $32.95 in Mexico/Canada and $47.95 in all other countries. There are only two boxes at this weight, so don't hesitate if you're interested!

Mystery Box #3:
This box weight over seven pounds and has lots of cool goodies. There is lots of paper, including some Bo Bunny, Graphic 45, Pink Paislee and more! There is also an album kit included in the box, with a large chipboard album already covered in paper + coordinating embellishments! It's an awesome box!

I've decided to sell this box for $69.95, which is less than $10.00 a pound. Shipping will be via the USPS Priority Mail Flat rate service and is $11.35 in the USA, $32.95 in Mexico/Canada and $47.95 in all other countries. There is only one box at this weight, so don't hesitate if you're interested!

Box + Shipping

Thanks so much for stopping by! We'll probably be continuing on with our decluttering during the next week or two, so there may be more mystery boxes on the horizon!

NEW VIDEO: Graphic 45's Iron Scrappers!

Hi, everyone!

During CHA, Laura Denison of Following the Paper Trail and I discussed the idea of doing a scrapbook challenge. The idea was for us each to create from the same list of ingredients, similar to the television show Iron Chef. Graphic 45 heard about the idea and offered to provide the "ingredients" in the form of a box of supplies.

Well, Laura and I have been working hard to make some wonderful projects for you, and today the results of all our hard work are available for you to enjoy over on the Graphic 45 blog. Pictures and video of my two projects are below, but be sure to also stop by the Graphic 45 blog and Laura's blog for more visual treats & a chance to win some cool products!

For my first project, I used the 5"x8" Kraftboard Altered Art Box w/ Album to create an album in a box. I decorated this box with the "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" papers and embellishments. I really enjoyed the whimsical images and bright colors of this collection. It's perfect for creating a box of treasures!

For my second project, I used the "Curtain Call" paper collection. I decided to make a set of three hardbound photo albums from scratch using these warm and neutral pages. The three books fit neatly into a chipboard sleeve, creating a boxed set of albums to display on a shelf. They look so polished sitting there!

To show the original box of ingredients, as well as for a more detailed look at the projects, I uploaded a video over on my YouTube channel. You can watch it below, or follow this link to watch on YouTube: Graphic 45 Scrap Off Video.

An instruction manual is now available for this "Boxed Set" album technique here: http://www.kathrynscraps.com/#!shop/c1nqyKathryn's Shop.

I hope you enjoyed these projects. Be sure to check out Laura's projects at Following the Paper Trail and Graphic 45's blog to see what else was created with these awesome products! There's also a chance to win some prizes, so be sure to leave some love. ;D

Thanks for stopping by & have a great week!

Kathryn Scraps Now on Pinterest!

Hi, everyone!

I hope you're having a great day & that you had a wonderful weekend. I taught my Kaiser Craft "Sweet Nothings" album-in-a-box class on Saturday and it was a huge success! Not only were all of the attendees people I already knew from the show, but also we had people there from Virginia, Maryland and Canada! It was such a fun group & I was so happy to meet everyone. :D

This morning every single Front Door album went out in the mail, so those will start winging their way around the world. That class starts on April 5, 2012, so anyone who ordered this weekend should get their album in plenty of time for it to be there when the class starts.

The subject of Pinterest came up during my show last Thursday, and Ella suggested that I create a board on my account where you guys could pin pictures of the projects you create that are inspired by my shows and tutorials. So I went ahead and did that today. The board is on my Pinterest page and is called Inspired by Kathryn.

In order to pin to this board, I'll need to add you as a contributor. If you'd like to pin projects that have been inspired by me to the board, please send an email to me at thescrapbeach@gmail.com with the following info:

Your Name
Preferred eMail address
Link to your Pinterest

Once I have the above info, I'll send you an invitation to pin to the board and you'll be able to post your projects there.

When posting to the "Inspired by Kathryn" board, please let us know which of my projects inspired your creation. Please only pin projects that have been inspired by me.

Pin away!

Now Available: Front Door Albums

Hi, everyone!

I have been a busy little bee around here. I have projects in the works for both Graphic 45 and Fancy Pants Designs that will be YouTube videos before the end of the month, so keep checking back here for more details on those.

Also I have been getting prepared for my class at the local scrapbook store here in town. It's this Saturday and three people from the bog and USTREAM show are coming, so I am excited to meet them! We should have lots and lots of fun. I hope you all have exciting stuff planned for this weekend, too!

I have another exciting album series planned for my USTREAM Channel. This one features an AccuCut die in the shape of a front door, so we will be making a "Memories of Home" album. I hope to start this series on Thursday, April 5th.

Front Door albums will begin shipping on Monday, March 19th in the order in which purchases were made. I'm hoping that will give you plenty of time to receive your album before the class, even if you are outside the country.

Here's a picture of the front door album:

The album measures approximately 5.75" x 10.5", so it's quite large. You'll definitely need a 12"x12" paper collection for this one. I'll be using papers and embellishments from the Cosmo Cricket "Tea for Two" collection for my album.

Price options below include album + shipping for USA and Canada. For all other countries, please choose "Album ONLY." After checkout, a separate invoice will be sent with the exact shipping charges to your location to ensure you are not overcharged. If you purchase multiple albums, we will combine shipping and issue refunds for shipping overages when possible.

Also today is Thursday, so please join me during my regularly scheduled USTREAM shows at 2:00 PM Eastern USA time and 9:00 PM Eastern USA time. This week we'll be working on some Spring/Mother's Day cards with stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations. I hope you'll be able to join us!

Card Organizer Divider Labels

Hi, everyone!

We had two wonderful USTREAM shows yesterday & got our card organizer box complete. We also got started on the dividers for the box & there was a request that I would add another PDF with some ideas for card subjects in the same font used for the months. I created a PDF with the names of all twelve months + thirteen other card types to use as divider labels. You can download it here: Divider Tab Labels.

Use as many as you like from the list. I made a total of eighteen dividers for my box, but you could certainly make more ~ this needs to be functionl for you! Twelve of my eighteen tabs are for the months of the year, and six are for occasions that come up throughout the year. I'll probably be using the following six from the PDF:

1. Thank You
2. Sympathy (includes bereavement, get well soon, etc.)
3. Congratulations (includes new baby, wedding, graduation, etc.)
4. Thinking of You (includes anytime, friendship, etc.)
5. Faith/Religious Events (includes Baptisms, religious holidays, etc.)
6. Gift Card Holders

If you'd like to see how to assemble the box and create the dividers, check out the two USTREAM reecordings from today's shows:

1. Card Organizer: Box + Lid
2. Card Organizer: Dividers + Decorating

One of my goals for 2012 was to make (and send) more cards to friends and family. In order to store and organize these cards (and the dates on which to send them), I'll be creating a card organizer and storage box. That's why we created the box and dividers today.

I made the box out of 12"x12" chipboard and decorated it with the Bo Bunny "Country Garden" paper collection. Since this box will be sitting in your home, you should choose a paper collection that you love and that complements your home decor.

The tabbed dividers turn the large empty box into a filing system of sorts. There's a tab for each of the twelve months. That's where you put the cards for events that happen on the same day every year: birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. The additional tabbed dividers are for those occasions and circumstances that crop up periodically throughout the year.

To download the date sheets for the fronts of my twelve monthly dividers shown on the videos, click here: Monthly Card Sheets.

I'll be doing card classes throughout the year to fill our boxes up. The goal is to get the box nice and stocked so that you're always prepared to send a handmade card for any occasion.

I hope that you like this idea and that you'll be making a card organizer of your own.

New USTREAM Series: Card Organizer Project Starts Today!

Hi, everyone!

Now that the "Frosty Window Album" has been completed, we'll be starting a new project during today's USTREAM shows. This is a project that I'll be working on periodically throughout the year.

One of my goals for 2012 was to make (and send) more cards to friends and family. In order to store and organize these cards (and the dates on which to send them), I'll be creating a card organizer and storage box. That's what we'll be starting today.

I'll be making the box out of 12"x12" chipboard and decorating it with the Bo Bunny "Country Garden" paper collection. Since this box will be sitting in your home, you should choose a paper collection that you love and that complements your home decor.

Essentially the box will be come a file. We'll have tabbed dividers for each of the twelve months for events that you know about each year (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.), as well as tabbed dividers for those occasions and circumstances that crop up periodically throughout the year (congratulations, sympathy, thinking of you, etc.).

I have created date sheets for the fronts of my twelve monthly dividers. If you'd like to use them instead of making your own, a PDF is available for download here: Monthly Card Sheets.

Once we've got the box made, we'll be doing card classes throughout the year to fill it up. The goal is to get the box nice and stocked so that you're always prepared to send a handmade card for any occasion.

I am live today and every Thursday on my USTREAM channel at 2:00 PM Eastern USA time and 9:00 PM Eastern USA time. Check the right hand sidebar of my blog for a timezone converter if you're not sure what time that is where you live.

I hope that you like this idea and that you'll be able to join me on my two live shows today to start working on it.

See you there!
