New Video, 12"x12" Layout: Liz & Ted

Hi, everyone! I just finished this layout about my sister and how she likes to abuse my teddy bear:

The journaling reads:
Liz and Teddy have a little bit of a tempestuous relationship. Sometimes she treats Teddy with respect and allows him to hang out with her with her {like in the picture above, for example}. But then other times she becomes filled with some sort of violent rage which she insists on taking out on the poor bear {see picture to the left}. These mood swings can occur within a space of five minutes, so Teddy is never totally safe. Watch out, Teddy!

This layout is once again based on a sketch from Becky Fleck's book Pagemaps, and I need to print more photos because I have finished all the sketches I prepared so far. I pulled the next batch of sketches and I will start the photo editing/printing process tomorrow. That's always time consuming and annoying, but totally worth it in the end as I never have to do any cropping with a trimmer later. :)

I made a video of this layout coming together & posted it over on my YouTube Channel:

I hope you enjoy the layout & that today is the start of a very excellent week for you!

New Video: "Waffle Man" 12"x12" Layout

Hi, everyone! I just finished this layout about my sweetie and how he likes to make me breakfast:

The printed journaling reads:
Alan has always wanted to be in charge of weekend breakfast. It is something his dad, Wayne, always did for his mom and it is a tradition he wanted to carry into our own marriage. Sometimes breakfast is as simple as coffee and frozen waffles. Other times it is a full-on spread of eggs, bacon, toast, coffee and juice. He also likes to break out the griddle and make all sorts of pancakes, like banana walnut or a berry medley. Every once in a while, he lets me help, but usually he just wants me to sit and relax and chit chat with him while he is working away. When he’s done, we sit together at the table and have leisurely morning, reading the paper and talking about our plans for the day. This is just one of the many ways this wonderful man takes care of me and makes me feel special. I can’t thank him enough for being such a wonderful husband, caretaker and friend. :)

The handwritten journaling reads:
I love you so much, sweetie!

This layout is once again based on a sketch from Becky Fleck's book Pagemaps, and I have actually decided to work my way through the book one sketch at a time to a) get my money's worth out of it and b) start getting pictures off my hard drive and into my albums where I can look at them. :)

I made a video of this layout coming together & posted it over on my YouTube Channel:

I hope you enjoy the layout! Let me know if you'd like me to keep posting my journaling for you to read.

March 2010 Crop Challenge #4: The Breakfast Club

March 2010 Crop Challenge #4: The Breakfast Club

The fourth challenge is to create a layout about eating. For example, my husband and I have a tradition of making a fabulous Sunday brunch together each week. It's a chance to be together in the kitchen, read the paper, relax and enjoy each other's company. It's something I've really missed since he's been gone. Your layout doesn't have to be about breakfast. It can be about everything from a backyard BBQ to Thanksgiving dinner, but it should somehow be about a shared meal.

To participate, create a layout about a shared meal. The layout may be any size {12"x12", 8.5"x11", 8"x8", 6"x12", etc.} and can be either a one-page or two-page layout.

Enter the challenge by posting a link to your submission BELOW THIS POST by 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010. The link can either be to a photo of your entry in the gallery here, or to a video on YouTube or to your personal blog ~ wherever!

Tomorrow's Crop is an 80's Bash!

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach! I just wanted to quickly post and remind you that the web community's monthly crop was moved to tomorrow from its usual slot in the first Saturday of the month.

I am hard at work writing up {thinking up?} the crop challenges for the March crop. And, you know how I always try to link the crop challenges together with some kind of theme? Yeah? Well, this time I decided the theme should be THE 80'S!!!

Excited? No? You wish the 80's could be permanently erased from your memory? Well, too bad! This Saturday we are wallowing in the 80's!

In addition to all the challenges being 80's themed, we are going to have a special door prize for anyone who wears 80's attire to the crop! So get out your acid washed jeans, take a quick pic of yourself in your 80's finery & there will be a special thread to post those pics. I'll make a kit during the crop and will randomly choose a winner from that thread during the crop to give the kit to!

Have fun & see you tomorrow!

New Video: "Poor Bunny" 12"x12" Layout

Hi, everyone! I hope you're enjoying Life on the {Scrap}Beach!

I have a new video up over on my YouTube Channel for you today:

This layout is based on a sketch from the book Pagemaps by Becky Fleck & it's basically about me cutting the head of a chocolate Easter bunny. I've never actually done the whole chocolate bunny thing before, so I wanted to document my experience. I take pictures of weird stuff, I'm not going to lie. :)

I'm still not feeling the 12"x12" layouts, so I am going to work through the book one sketch at a time until something clicks. I figure I'll either get my inspiration back for the large layouts or I'll just say it's nothing but minis from here on out!

Thanks for watching!

On the Third Month of Christmas

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

I am sorry I am a little late with the Third Month of Christmas Giveaway. I've been sick since Sunday & cold meds do not enhance my already limited memory skills. :(

This month's giveaway is the March Add-On Kit for the Glimmer Mist Gals Club hosted by my buddy Jenn at Live.Teach.Create: The Garden Collection!

The Garden Collection includes three beautiful colors of Glimmer Mist: Scarlet, Blue Skies and English Ivy.

Scarlet is a true red with a pale orange glimmer.

Blue Skies is a baby blue with a pale blue shimmer.

English Ivy is medium green with a green and black opalescent shimmer.

I hope you enjoy these colors as much as I have! Because I was a little late posting, I am going to leave the comments section open a little longer than usual. To be entered to win, please leave a comment on this post before 11:59 PM on Wednesday, March 10th. I will close the comments at 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, March 10th and announce the winner first thing in the morning on Thursday, March 11th. Thanks for reading & playing along with me!
