"Big Pinks" Mini Album Video, Part Two

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

I just uploaded the second video in my new "Big Pinks" series over on my YouTube Channel. This is a 5"x5" chipboard mini album which I am using to highlight photos of all the flamingos I've seen down here. I was able to get a ton of photos in this album, as you will see, so hopefully you'll get plenty of ideas for ways to include photos and journaling in your mini albums!

Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoyed it!

  1. Very nice! I can't believe you had the patience to cover those cb letters with patterned paper.
It sure looked good when it was done. Also, there have been a bunch of videos of peeps making hauls at "Big Lots", I went to ours and found a few goodies but I also got a 2 pack of break away craft knives in the tool section for $2...since I know you use them I'd thought I would share the source.
    Later, ♥

  2. Thanks, Jill! That is very useful information to have since I wouldn't normally check the tool section of Big Lots. Our Big Lots is right next to our Michael's, so I'll have to go check them out soon!

As for patience, well, usually I am listening to music while I scrap, so I just kind of zone out mentally and sing along when I'm doing something time-consuming like that & it's not so bad!

  3. I look forward to your videos so much! I love to watch your process and your voice is so calming. I love the idea of white embossing paper o craft. i have my first crop this weekend and I will definitely try it! I joined a club with my mom at a local craft store and will be scrapping for 8 hours, one saturday each month. I can't wait! Though I am finding it difficult to pack my craft room in a small tote! I will definitely be using your page kit tips for packing my bag! Thanks again for all you do!

  4. Amy, that sounds really fun! :D I'm sure the two of you will have an awesome time! Making page kits can really help cut down on stuff to bring to a crop. Also, bring a pad of Post-It notes. That way, if you're working on a layout and think of something from home you'd like to add, you can make a note of it & stick it on the layout. When you get home you can quickly add the missing elements without trying to remember what it was you wanted to add!

  5. I enjoy your videos because they are a great source to learn new techniques and because they inspire me. Kathryn, when and how did you get started in scrapbooking?

  6. Thanks, Genny! I started scrapbooking in the Fall of 2006, so I've been a scrapper for almost three years now. I got started when someone {not a scrapper} gave me one of those scrapbook album kits as a wedding present at my bridal shower. I basically did nothing with it until after the wedding and decided to make an album with it so I wouldn't feel guilty that I didn't use the gift & then things sort of took off from there! :D I should make a video of my first scrapbook album ~ it's hilarious!

  8. Thanks, Maritza! I love the letters, but they do take patience. :D Maybe I'll break out the first album just for fun to show you all how far I've come. It should be a riot.

  11. Hi there! I came across your YouTube channel and immediately had to visit your blog. I'm embarrassed to say I did nothing but watch all of your videos over the past three days. I've always been SO afraid of mini books and other altered items, of any kind, but now I feel empowerd to take a go at one! I know, so dramatic sounding, isn't it?! LOL Thanks so much for taking the anxiety out of trying things! You're amazingly talented and I'm so glad I found you!
