Tim Holtz Texture Fades

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

As most of you probably know, I have a Sizzix BigShot in my scraproom as my manual die cutter. I've been using it mainly on cards and mini albums to make things like journaling spots and album pages. I haven't gotten too intrigued by the idea of using it to emboss until I saw the Tim Holtz Texture Fades. I love these! Some of them are right up my alley in terms of what I like when I am scrapbooking. They come in sets of two, and below are pictures from his blog of what they look like.

In this set, I especially love the grid, of course. If you've been following my blog or YouTube Channel for any length of time, you know how I am about anything grid paper! :D But I also really love the sun rays and the circles.

I am sure you can guess which two Texture Fades are my favorites from the set below. :D Of course the notebook paper and the damask are really catching my eye!

I love this group of four the best, probably. There are three in this grouping that I am wild about: the tiny checkerboard, the burlap weave and the swirls. I love those swirls! The shattered glass is also nice & would look great as a spiderweb on Halloween projects.

In this group, my overall favorite is the brick wall, but I do also really like the wood grain.

This whole collection is making me itch to get my hands on some Core'dinations cardstock. I had a trip to Michael's planned for this afternoon anyway, so I think I will see what Core'dinations they have in stock while I am there.

Another thing I love about these folders is that they will be large enough to fit an entire card. I think that was an especially bright move. I never did like the idea of having to line up the image and emboss twice to cover the front of a card. Plus they will also emboss grungepaper and grungeboard. Just very, very, cool.

What are you looking forward to from this CHA?

  2. Hi Kathryn! :) Im intriqued with this and want to get those fades all at once! lol! All his texture fades are so cool! They're probably a little bit pricey than the regular sizzix embossing folders...oh well, it has Tim Holtz name! I wonder if all the fades has the same price? Can't wait to see your projects using one of the fades! :)

    Happy scrapping!

  5. I am with you--this new stuff is too good to be true.....I also want to know if they fit the bigkick or do I already need a new machine? I just got mine for Christmas--I will be sad if I need a new machine--I don't have this one figured out all the way yet.....KH

  6. Hi, MissChicas! Unfortnately, I don't know anything about the dies other than what he had on his blog & I have a BigShot so I really don't know aything abut the Cuttlebug at all either. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help. Unless the current Sizzix embossing folders go edge-to-edge in your Cuttlebug, though, my guess would be that these would work as well, but that it totally just a guess & I really have no idea.

Kristy, Mario tweeted about some of the new dies and folders and the projects Tim was working on with them & in his tweet there was a photo with a regular BigShot sitting on the table next to the projects. So my guess would be that the new machine is a BigShot Express with Tim Holtz styling, but that is just a guess. I actually have no idea & we will have to wait until after CHA to know for sure.

Thanks everyone for commenting! I am glad you are excited about these. I am looking forward to getting my hands on some as soon as they become available.

  7. Hi Kathryn,

I'm not sure if there's a Joann where you live, but the Core'dinations papers are 4 for $1. Check them out.

    I hope that helps.

    :)
