New Videos: Scraproom Redo & Fall Mini Album

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach! I hope you all had a great weekend! I had a ton of fun at the crop ~ a big thank you to all of you who joined us!

Today I have two new videos over on my YouTube Channel: an update tour of my scraproom and the first part in a new mini album series with a fall/family theme.

I realized during the last crop that I needed to rearrange my scraproom. The furniture placement that worked so well in the beginning has not been holding up to the changes in my lie very well. Between the videos, and the live crop feeds and everything else, I had put too much stuff on my desk and was getting way crowded, so this is what I came up with:

If you're curious, this is what it looked like before I moved things around yesterday afternoon:

I also posted the first video in a new mini album series: "Dive Into Fall"

Thanks for watching ~ I hope you enjoy all the videos!

  8. Hi, Kathryn, well..you've always seemed very organized to me, but I'm sure glad your room is working out better for your videos. Your new mini album is shaping up to be another lovely one and I'm sure I'll get more inspiration from it like I always do!

Btw, for the very FIRST time, I am making an album with no pics yet. I've never done this before--I would always have the photos and work from there. Well, my sister who lives in another state would like an album of her many years spent abroad and I have no clue really what these pics' colors and sizes are. Anyway, I'm backtracking on your videos because I know you've done many, many albums like this with no photos. I stocked up on mats, frames, that sort of thing. I hope I pull this off beautifully. Oh, my! Any tips?

    Thanks,
    Liz

  9. oops...forgot to mention something. I was at Michaels the other day and I saw these small jars of microbeads from the Martha Stewart scrapbooking line. They looked so pretty and I bought a few. Tried them out with my Sakura gel liquid thingy (I can't remember exactly what it's called) and it came out nicely but a bit thick. Wonder if you've used these before & if so, how you've used them. The effect is pretty though it looked a bit gloppy, I just wish I knew how to use it better for a nicer outcome.

  10. Hi, Liz! Good to hear from you! My room has always been pretty organized ~ I am a very organized person by nature ~ but since starting my weekly live scrapbooking show, I have had to have so much additional equipment and suplies around me that I was starting to feel a little claustrophobic. So this new arrangement helps quite a lot with that.

I have done quite a lot of albums without photos as I give lots of albums as gifts & then I also swap albums with other mini album addicts. When I am creating an album for a non-scrapper, I try to make obvious photo mats so there will be no confusion as to where photos can go, and I size the mats for 3"x4" and 2"x3" photos. That way when they resize their photos, but keep the same aspect ratio as a 4"x6" photo.

I might also suggest popping by "The Beach" as we are all calling my Ning site. There are lots of very helpful and talented scrappers over there & there is always a live chat going on as well. I know the ladies would be happy to answer questions and offer help, if you're interested. That place is usually hopping 24/7!

As far as the microbeads, I haven't tried them, but I would probably try to use them the same way as glitter. Which it sounds like is prety much what you did. Oh wait! I take tht back. I have used microbeads before in a class at Recollections {way back in the day!} and we used that super strong red tape to make a frame around something & then poured the beads over that. They haven't budged since!
