Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!
I spent a good chunk of last week updating the way that I store my Glimmer Mists as part of my 2010 organizational kick. Those of you who watched either of my UStream shows last Thursday have already seen the new storage & reference system, but I thought I'd post pics here for anyone who may have missed it.
One of the regular readers and commentors on this blog, Jill W., sent me a link to a Glimmer Mist swatch book idea on the Tattered Angels website. I loved the idea so I decided to make one! After all, I can't resist a good organizational/reference system! :D
I sprayed two swatches with each of my Glimmer Mist colors on white American Crafts cardstock. One swatch was larger and the other was smaller. The large swatches went onto a ring {well, actually a string} for easy color reference and selection. Here's a look at the larger swatches:
On the back of each swatch is a label with the color name and the name of the special collection it belongs to, if applicable:
I hang the swatches from a knob on the lamp next to my desk. They're very easy to reach there & I can quickly select a color for my project:
The smaller swaches went onto the lids of the Glimmer Mist bottles so I could see which color was which without having to take them out of their basket to look at the labels:
The bottles are arranged in their basket in the order in which they are on the swatch ring. That makes it easy for me to zero in on the part of the basket I need. I used strips of extra thick chipboard to create rows of Glimmer Mist in the basket so they weren't all just crammed in there randomly.
So that's it! If you'e a Glimmer Mist Addict like me, I hope you get some use out of this post! Thanks for stopping by!

Glimmer Mist Silk Flowers
Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!
My friend Dawn-Marie shared this video with the group over on my website the other night:
I liked the look for the crepe paper flowers, but I don't have any crepe paper, so I decided to use the technique in the video with strips of silk remnants left over from my wedding dress. Here's what I came up with:
I made a video of the second flower coming together & I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for watching!

2009 Kits Retired ~ WAHOO!!!
Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!
Last night June I posted a video on how I make my page kits: Making Page Kits. I store all my completed page kit together in a canvas tote & lately have noticed that even though it is stuff with kits, I am not feeling hugely inspired by any of them. Which means it was time to "retire" the ones that I am not reaching for anymore to make room for new kits that will inspire me.
Well, dismantling a kit and returning the items to my stash is quite the large job & so I must admit that I don't do it as often as I should. When I find that I always skip a particular page kit and never reach for it anymore I take it apart ~ anything left in the kit gets returned to my stash and I now have an empty sleeve for a new kit.
It takes some time to do this, though, because I have to sort out my paper by color, cut down all my scraps to the right sizes, put the embellishments back in their drawers, etc. This is why sometimes I will avoid retiring a kit for a while. Anyways, I decided to just get it over with, however, and retire ALL of the ones I was tired of {which was most of them because I haven't retired a kit in about a year} over the last couple days and now I am DONE! WAHOO!
Just in time, too, because I have a big box coming to me today full of stuff from the new Prima CHA releases. I'm glad that there will actually be room for the stuff now. :D

New Video: "The 2 of Us" Mini Paperbag Album
Hi, everyone! I just posted a new video over on my YouTube Channel of a paperbag mini album I made for my husband for Valentine's Day.
This mini was made with the "Celebrate It!" brand paperbags found in the party supply section of Michael's. These bags are the perfect size {3.5"x6.75"} to hold #8 shipping tags {3.12"x6.25"}, and I love turning them into pocket albums by binding the bags at the bottom with my Bind-It-All. What is totally crazy about these albums is that I am neither a huge fan of paperbag albums or of my Bind-It-All but I use both of them together & suddenly I like them! Weird.
Here's the video:
The papers and embellishments are all from my stash and some of them are quite old. It's always fun to make an album from my stash papers and embellishments instead of just buying something new. I get such a great feeling of "using it up" and it's awesome!
Thanks for watching!

New 12"x24" Layout: Welcome to the Jungle
Hi, everyone! I just uploaded a new video over on my YouTube Channel! I'm still completely devoid of any motivation to do 12"x12" layouts and have no "mojo" regarding them, so I have used another Becky Fleck sketch from the book Pagemaps. I have probably used less than half a dozen sketches in my entire scrapping career & most of those have been since the first of the year. :)
This layout uses papers and embellishments from the Fancy Pants Designs "Summer Soiree" collection and the DCWV "Safari Kids" collection. I am still struggling with the layouts, but I think the more I do, the easier it will get. Until I get inspired again, though, I'm going to just work my way through Becky Fleck's book, one sketch at a time. :D I hope you enjoy!

On the Second Month of Christmas ...
Hi, everyone! Welcome to the second of my "12 Months of Christmas" giveaways!
When I was trying to decide what to give away this month, I though of the two February holidays here in the United States: Valentine's Day and President's Day. There was a part of me that really wanted to try and figure out something funny to give away that related to President's Day, but I decided to go with the more classic Valentine's Day in the end.
So, in honor of the most romantic day of the year, I am giving away a set of one each of the original eight colors of Smooch Spritz:
The winner will receive one bottle of each of the following Smooch Colors:
1. Cherry Ice
2. Frosted Grape
3. Silver Foil
4. Electric Blue
5. Ginger Snap
6. Emerald Sprinkle
7. Gold Glow
8. Vanilla Shimmer
I bought these Smooches from my buddy Jenn at live.teach.create. I believe she can get the new colors of Smooch as well that were just released & will be doing a blog post with ordering info later this week. My three favorites of the original eight are probably "Cherry Ice", "Gold Glow" and "Vanilla Shimmer". In fact, I have almost used up my "Vanilla Shimmer" completely, so it is getting to be just about time to buy another one.
To enter to win these eight Smooch spritzes, simply leave a comment on this post before 11:59 p.m. Miami, FL USA time {GMT-5} on Thursday, February 4th. I will post the winners first thing on Friday morning!
