The gals at Stampendous sent me some of their new Color Fragments for this Blog Hop, which I used to create a 6"x6" card. I turned these little bits of pure color into egg shells in the nest below:
In the above card, I stamped the bird's nest from the Nest Egg Perfectly Clear Stamps twice and then cut it out with a combination of my craft knife & a pair of scissors. It took a l-o-n-g time, I'm not going to lie. I layered one nest over the other to create the well in the center.
Next I used both the solid and speckled egg stampes from the Nest Egg Perfectly Clear Stamps to create the eggs. I layered the speckled images over the sold images to create this robin's egg look. One of the eggs I cut in half to look like it had already hatched.
After arranging the eggs in the nest, I added Scotch Quickdry to the nest and then sprinkled on the Powder Blue Color Fragments to look like broken bits of shell. Once the next was complete, I added it to the front of my card & I LOVE IT!!! Here's a closer look at the nest itself:
To see more of what you can do with these color fragments, check out the whole list of fabulousness for today:

We also love the way you cut the one egg apart... just fantastic! Love this card, it's so gorgeous! Your nest cutting was worth the effort. This nest stamp was made using (and altering) a photograph of an actual nest found in our Sample Artist's backyard. We love how it came out so real looking. Terrific job, Kathryn, and thanks for partnering with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation! The nest is very realistic ~ as are the eggs and the fathers in the set. I loved working with the nest and the eggs in the set & brainstorming how to use the stamps and the color fragments to show the eggs in various life stages.
DeleteThe blue fragments are perfect for the broken eggshells, aren't they? Love this card...have to ask, is the sentiment your own writing? Awesome! Thanks for playing with us for the hop!
ReplyDeleteThe sentiment is not my writing ~ I wish! That is the Jellyka Western Princess font by Jellyka Nerevan. She has designed some very lovely vintage handwriting fonts.
