Test Your Color IQ!
Happy Friday, my friends! Yesterday on the show we were talking about how well we see colors, and I promised to post this test that Mr. Lifeguard found.
This is an online color hue IQ test. I was a bit stressed about taking it at first because I always thought I had a good eye for color, and I really didn't want to find out I was wrong about that. I decided to take it anyway, and to my relief received the following result:
To test yourself, go to the X-Rite Online Color Challenge page and arrange the tiles as instructed: Online Color Challenge.
It doesn't take too long and it is a fun little challenge. Be sure to come back and tell us how you did.
Have a GREAT weekend!
~Kathryn :D

It was fun, I got a 3 I know I have trouble with greens and on the test that is where I had it wrong . THanks that was fun.
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part of the test for me was the blue-green area & that is where I struggle with matching in paper-crafting, too.
DeleteI got a 94. My whole graph had a bias. My Dad is color blind but my mom is not. I guess I should only work with paper collections. Lol
ReplyDeleteI love paper collections!
DeleteWhew I scored a 0. I was a bit worried because my Mom and Sister both have color vision problems. I have more problems proving I am not a robot.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your zero! :D
DeleteI had an 18. I thought it would be worse! It was fun. I am going to get the rest of my family to take it.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to get your friends and family to take it! Lots of interesting results.
DeleteI got 87
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think monitors can cause a problem with the test, too.
Deletelol ok after an hour and 6 interruptions, and my eyes crying the whole time, I got a 3.... Yay me. the most trouble I had was with the blue/greens
ReplyDeleteIt was a cool test. Thanks!
Lin_Fes ( Fran )
Don't people know better than to interrupt when you are doing something important!?!!! Blue-green was my most difficult area, too.
DeleteHi Kathryn, My score was sixteen, I am quite pleased with that result. I only wish I had done so well in school.lol Thanks for the fun,Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Isn't that the truth!?!!! :D
DeleteI took the test again, and took more time this time. I did improve to an 8.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed how much time you take makes a difference. I've rushed through it before & gotten higher scores.
DeleteI scored a 3, it said my problems were in the mauve type area on the far right side of the page. I didn't think I'd do as well as I did so I'm pleased with that score.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! A three is really good. I think the blended colors are the hardest ~ the mauve's, the blue/greens, etc.
DeleteI mentioned on the show I was color stupid not color blind. Many times you mentioned that a color has a hint of blah blah blah, I don't see it. Thats why I use mostly paper collections 'cause I'm color stupid. So does the person with the worst score get a prize. I was not trying to get the worst score. So my score is....... wait for it.......114. Woohoo.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not actual color-blindness, then you can always train your eye to see colors better. It helps to study and learn the color wheel and how the different colors, along with black and white, interact with each other. I have my fine arts training to thank for my ability to see colors so well.
DeleteI thought I would ace it, bummer,I scored an 8! Color has always been my thing. If it was a math test and I did less than perfect...well that is to be expected. But, color? That was before my coffee. I might try again after coffee And wear my glasses! LOL Have to say it was fun. Thanks Kathryn!
ReplyDeleteEight is still a really good score! The point spread goes to over 100, so that's still an A! But I definitely think coffee and glasses would help, too. ;D
DeleteI got a 24 not so bad I guess
ReplyDeleteGreat job! :D
DeleteI scored 12 the first time and 8 the second :) I had my family do it - both sons got 4's, one girlfriend got 32 and the hubby ..... 123! He's insisting it's 'cos he's super intelligent :) An interesting experiment, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am going to borrow your husband's excuse for sure! Now I will just tell people that the reason I am not talented in a specific area is only because I am super intelligent!
DeleteI got a 4. I did take this a few months back when a friend emailed the link to me and I think I had a 12. So, I guess my new glasses are working better, LOL!
ReplyDeleteAn improvement is always a good thing! I definitely think the eye can be trained to see slight differences in color, too. Or more likely the eye always sees the same thing, but the brain can be trained to interpret.
Deletewhoo hoo! just redid it and got ZERO.
DeleteBased on your information, below is how your score compares to those of others with similar demographic information.
Your score: 0
Gender: Female
this time, it was dark outside, no sun shining in the window...is that cheating?!
I can't believe I scored a ZERO! This will finally settle my mother and I's long time arguments over color coordination!!! This is proof I was right: "Those heels really were red and NOT orange!" LOL :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go on your zero! It's always good to have proof that we're right! :D
DeleteWay to go on your zero! This is pretty much the only test where you see that score & do a happy dance. :D
ReplyDeleteI scored zero even with new monitors that aren't set up quite right yet. This was fun.
ReplyDeleteI got a 15, which isn't too bad for being on a laptop where screen angle means everything. Thanks for this fun test now off to get the rest of my family to try.
ReplyDelete(25/f) I just took the test, got a 0 on an old, uncalibrated monitor. Took the test relatively fast as well, working from both edges towards the middle. I used to do a lot of graphical web design, with lots of time spent tweaking colors, so that probably helped.
ReplyDeleteHave to have my boyfriend take this test-he has insisted that grey-green shirts were actually blue before.
