So You Want to Make a Christmas Kit ...

... without losing your mind? And still make a profit? And stay out of divorce court? And not have to buy a new computer AND a new printer? Great! I have compiled a list below of helpful tips to get you started:

  1. Estimate how much time you think it will take to make the kits.

  2. Multiply that number to the tenth power.

  3. Estimate how much profit you think you'll make from the kits.

  4. Cut that number by 75%.

  5. Divide the revised profit by the revised time.

  6. Realize that you will only make $0.05 an hour for your time and effort.

  7. Go get drunk instead.

I am thinking about writing a book on this subject ~ what do you guys think? Will it be a bestseller? ;D

Right now, as I am typing, everything is sitting in the garage, packed into boxes & waiting for USPS to come pick it up in a few hours. My part of the Christmas extravaganza is complete & I am very happy and relieved to have my life back! LOL!

I know that last year I said I was never doing another Christmas kit & I still did one this year. But this year I really, REALLY mean it when I say I am never doing another Christmas kit. Remind me next September that I said this if I start making comments about doing another Christmas kit. Link me to this blog post if necessary ~ do everything in your power to talk me out of it! I am counting on you, my friends, to save me from myself.

  4. Oh Kathryn: You not having a Christmas kit would be like t!m not having his 12 Tags of Christmas - just unheard of.

Perhaps in an effort to save your sanity and still have a life, maybe you could just do a DVD and we can use our stash - although I do realize it does take a toll on your personal life as well as your person.

Thank you for sharing your talent and inspiring us!

  7. Lexi, how can you do this to me!? Mention next year while I am still so fragile from this year!? ::sob:: I thought you would have my back! :D I am glad you love what you've seen of the album so far - I thought it turned out nice, despite all the drama it created.

Zeffy, I think you have the right idea - taking a year off between kits to recover. I may follow your example!

Angie, you're welcome for the walk down memory lane. The fact that it was a fun walk gives me hope that one day I will be laughing, too!

Lois, I think you've got the right idea: no more kits - just do DVDs. We could use some of the awesome stuff in our stash to put together fun albums. I actually really want to do a Christmas Recipe album made out of paper bags one year, with everyone's best recipes. Maybe that's what we'll do next year.

Except that I am not doing this next year.

    Really.

    :D

Jill, you've got it - the problem is clearly that I'm not doing enough kits. If I made more kits each year, I would have plenty of practice & then it would be super easy to put one together. Is that about right? Or maybe I would just be crazy ALL the time instead of just SOME of the time ...

  11. Hi, Calendula!

I am willing to ship anywhere that USPS will send mail, so as long as USPS goes there then I will ship there. However, I am sold out of the kits for his year. Please email me at thescrapbeach@gmail.com, if you'd like more information about DVD purchases or custom album orders.
