Crop Out Cancer
Starting at 2:00 p.m. Eastern USA time on Saturday, April 12, 2014, I am hosting an online class and crop in my classroom open to all paper crafters. This is a charity crop to benefit the American Cancer Society and the National Kidney Foundation.
During the crop, I will teach a live class on my new "Layers of Love" album.
This hard cover paper bag album was designed especially for this event, and holds over 42 4"x6" photos. Copies of this manual will be sent to anyone who donates to the American Cancer Society or the National Kidney Foundation (details below).
We have had several donations of prizes for this event, including a subscription to Kathy Orta's second quarter kit club and five awesome kits of supplies from Tammie Ward (aka scrappergonewild) who has recently been affected by Renal Cancer. You will get one entry to the prize drawings for each donation you make (details below).

Donate financially to the National Kidney Foundation.
Because we have no way of tracking donations to NKF, please forward your donation confirmation/receipt to info@kathrynscraps.com to receive your manual and/or prize entry.
For non-USA participants only, make a financial donation to a cancer-fighting charity in your country.
Because we have no way of tracking these donations, please forward your donation confirmation/receipt to info@kathrynscraps.com to receive your manual and/or prize entry.
Make a "thinking of you" card for Linda Metteer (Linda aka Oz).
Our dear friend Linda is in the final stages of a long battle with ovarian cancer. Since Linda has been so ill, she has been unable to join in the chat fun. I know she would appreciate hearing from all her online friends!
Cards will be collected and sent together in one box, so envelopes are not required and there are no size or thickness limitations.
Please send your card to the below address. Be sure to include your name and contact info on or in the card so Linda knows it's from you. You will receive one prize entry for sending Linda a card.
To earn a prize entry for this crop, cards must be post-marked by March 29th (USA) or March 22nd (international).

Donate art supplies to your local children's hospital.
Many children's hospitals collect art supplies for children to make crafts and scrapbooks. Please contact your local children's hospital to see if they are in need of supplies. If you don't have a local children's hospital OR your local children's hospital does not have a current supply need, you can send supplies to me for the Washington, DC Children's Hospital.
Please send a photo of the supplies you are donating to your local children's hospital to info@kathrynscraps.com so we can add them to our Mosaic of Love and give you your prize entry.
Your local children's hospital likely collects donations all year long, however, to earn prize entries for this crop supplies must be photographed and emailed by April 5th.
Please send any supplies for the Washington, DC Children's Hospital to the below address. Be sure to include a card with your name and email address so we can give you your prize entry. To earn entries for this crop supplies must be post-marked by April 5th (USA) or March 29th (international).

Kathryn :D
Kathryn, thanks for doing this. It will benefit so many.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shirley! I'm so glad to see so many participating already - you guys are the best!
DeleteKathryn, I want to post two pictures to your collage, but I don't use Outlook. Can I send them somewhere else? I do intend to contribute to the American Cancer Society. As you know I am an almost 25 year survivor of breast cancer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this project!!
Sheila
Hi, Sheila! If you don't have Outlook, you can just copy the email address (info@kathrynscraps.com) and paste it into your normal email program.
DeleteThanks so much for participating in Crop Out Cancer!
Kathryn
DUH!! I should have known that. ;)
DeleteThank you. Count on me.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you, Doris!
DeleteI added your site and information "Crop our Cancer" to my Blog...Hope this helps. (craftyladydesign.com

Thanks!
DeleteI'm going to try to send the 6 cards for the Breast Cancer Care Center.I would love to be able to send a financial donation, however, my partner is battling Colo-rectal cancer right now. I'm disabled, and have a low income. He hasn't worked since the first week of Oct. We're waiting to see if Social Security will give him a temporary disability. So our finances are pretty slim. I don't live near so can't attend the crop. I know you must be a person of prayer, so I ask for a prayer for my sweetie who's name is Don. Thanks a bunch for all you do. Jessica
ReplyDeleteHi, Jessica!
DeleteThank you for making cards for the Seton Breast Care Center! I hope Don finds his way back to health soon. My best wishes and prayers for you both during this difficult time.
The crop and class are online at www.kathrynscraps.com, so you can attend from home - in your PJs if you like!
Kathryn
I have cancer (non hodgkin). Last year I got the announcement that i only have 3 to 4 month to live. I am still here! But it is hard.
ReplyDeleteYou have my greatest respect Kathryn!! I hope to enjoy your class.
Patricia
Patricia, I am so sorry to read about your long struggle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, but I am so glad you are still here with us! I very much hope you are able to join in the fun on the 12th and enjoy an afternoon of crafting.
DeleteHi Kathryn. This event inspired me to do something with my 9th Grade religion class, so.....we are going to make some Thank You cards for the Breast Cancer Society. We will be making them on Sunday April 13 and I'll ship them right out on Monday. Thanks for the inspiration and I can't wait for the class !
ReplyDelete~Kim
Kim, that is such a great idea! I hope your students have fun making these cards for Seton Breast Care Center - I am sure they will be so happy to receive them. :) Looking forward to seeing you on the 12th!
DeleteHi Kathryn, I sent off 8 cards today (that's the amount I made this past weekend) and was told that it would take a week to 10 days. I'm crossing my fingers that it will be a week. I knew I wasn't going to be able to make them, send them and get them to you by the 22nd, but hoping they'll get to you for the 29th, as I don't want to mention how much it would have cost for earlier arrival...
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to making the album with everyone on the 12th and I was able to pick out other papers in case I can't find the Bonjour Bouquet in time... third Michael's I checked last week didn't have it either, lol! Thank you :) Sharka
Hi, Sharka! You mailed the cards in plenty of time for them to be here, I think! I never quite understand the relationship between the Canadian and US Post Offices - sometimes things move really quickly and sometimes not so quick. Sorry you are still having trouble finding Bonjour Boutique, but glad you found other papers to make the project for your friends!
DeleteHi Kathryn, my husband was just diagnosed with rectal cancer 2 weeks ago. My Dad passed away from lung cancer 7 years ago and now my Mom is on hospice after a return of her lung cancer. Cancer is such a horrible disease and I am thrilled you are doing this class to help raise money for the ACS! I will be donating and hopefully will be able to join in on the fun! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteCheryl
Cheryl, I am so sorry to read about your family members who have and are struggling with cancer right now. It is a terrible scourge and I wish you, your husband and mother all the best during this difficult time! I am so happy I was able to do something to contribute to the fight against cancer, and I hope you are able to join us on the 12th!
DeleteKathryn,
ReplyDeleteI made a donation to the ACS. I am an oncology NP and have donated in memory of all my dear stem cell transplant patients. I am also a breast cancer survivor. Hope this helps. patricia.huber@comcast.net (didn't know where I was supposed to put my name and email). Patricia Huber
If you donated to the ACS through the event website, we will get your name and email from ACS automatically. No further action is required. Thank you so much for your generosity!
DeleteKathryn ~ Would it be possible for me to make a donation to Brain Cancer...my daughter has been fighting brain cancer for 6 years. Thank you ~ Brenda
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to read about your daughter's struggle, Brenda! My best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
DeleteBecause of the number of donations and the amount of work involved in planning this event, we do request that for purposes of receiving a manual individuals in the USA make their donations to the ACS who funds all forms of cancer research.
Hi Kathryn,
ReplyDeleteI have donated time for woman's cancer foundation in my province of Quebec in Canada, my grandma is a survivor of breasts cancer and my mom is also a survivor of intestinal cancer. minnie19781979@hot mail.com, I wasn't certain where to post the information of my donation
Thank you for your donation, Nadia! Please forward any documentation received from the Woman's Cancer Foundation to info@kathrynscraps.com in order to receive a copy of the manual.
DeleteHas anyone else had trouble with the Kidney Assn link not working? I've tried 2 browsers and both are reporting they're unable to connect to the site. I'm a frequent contributor to ACS, so thought I'd spread my support a bit. What a great fundraising event, Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteHi, Lucy! I haven't had anyone else mention this issue. I just tried the link myself and it went straight to the donation page like it was supposed to. I've been receiving donation confirmations for the National Kidney Foundation as well. You could try just going to their website's main page and donating from there since we don't have a specific page on their site like we do with ACS. Thank you so much for your generosity!
DeleteTee hee! I can now get to the site, but both browsers say the transaction cannot be completed at this time and to try later. I will continue trying, but made a donation to ACS in the meantime. "See" you Saturday.
DeleteKathryn, I just found out about your Crop Out Cancer Class, and would like to participate. I want to donate to the American Cancer Society, but I need to wait until my hubby is up so I can get the correct credit card used for our donations. Will it be a problem if I pay in the morning (well, it is already morning (12:57 am/PST)? I lost both of my Grandmother's to breast cancer. I never did get a chance to meet my maternal Grandmother because she died very young, before I was born. I was able to spend the last few months with my Dad's Mom when she was dying from breast cancer. She was living with us at the time, and I don't remember this, but my Mom tells me that as soon as I got home from school (5th grade), I'd go and sit with my Grandmother and talk, and took care of her needs. My father died nine years ago of lung cancer, and I was able to help my Mom care for him during the last five weeks of his life. What a horrible disease cancer is, and this event is a real blessing to me and others who have had cancer, have it now, or died from it. Thank you so much for your labor of love in setting this up. I know it had to take a huge amount of work on your part.
ReplyDeleteYou can continue to donate to receive a copy of the "Layers of Love" album through the weekend, although I can't guarantee you will receive it before the class starts tomorrow. However you can still join in the fun and start your album when you get the manual. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn. I just made the donation to the American Cancer Society.

Thanks for posting such amazing information. If you are looking for a transplant operation like a kidney or any other failed organ, well do not wait and visit the kidney transplant overseas. Contact them, check your eligibility, and put your name on the transplantation list.
