Proud Cricut Owner

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & that you're either relaxing today with your families or hitting the after Christmas sales ~ whichever is more your speed.

I know you've all been wondering if I did, in fact, get a Cicut Expression for Christmas & the answer is YES! I got the Cricut Expression {the regular one} with the Accent Essentials and Plantin Schoolbook cartridges. I've already been playing with it & so far it has been working smoothly with no major mishaps. I use the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to make a snowy village scene complete with mountains and trees and I can see that there is a lot to do with these machines that I'd never thought of before.

Accent Essentials has a lot of images that will be excellent for mini album pages, so I am really excited about that. When I get back to Miami, I want to get my hands on a deep cut blade and SCAL and just play around with what it can do. So, those of you who have Cricuts already, what cartridges are a must have? I like Storybook & there are some cool images on "A Child's Year" but I haven't really done a ton of research in this area.

  1. Kathryn,
You are going to love your Cricut. I use my Expression every day. There are so many cartridges to choose from. The Disney carts are real good and so are the font ones. I would research the font carts first and pick one from there and then go look at all the other ones. Life is a Beach is real good especially with you living in Florida. You will have so much fun. Congrats!!

I haven't played enough with my carts to ell which one is the a can't live with-out...but, I can see where using the scal for all of the tt fonts would be cool and just get the shapes carts on something that you are jonesen for. I have the mickey, princess, & cars for the kids and we have had alot of fun with those.

  4. Kathryn! Congrats on the Cricut Expression!! You'll love your Cricut. I got A Child's First Year, Designer Calendar and Life's a Beach for Christmas. And I love them. I only got to play with Designer Calendar. It's definitely a must have! I've looked through A Child's First Year over and over and the possibilities are endless. Just need to find time to play. The fonts are girly. Super cute! I heard I have 4 more carts coming soon. Storybook, Graphically Speaking, Ashlyn Letters (something like that) and Sentimentals (which is a preorder). I'm expecting a girl in Feb 2010 so hence the girly carts for Christmas:-) I'll let you know how they are!! Hope you enjoy your Cricut at home soon!

  11. Congrats on finally getting your Cricut! If you intend to get a design program such as SCAL I would look at more of the shape carts! The New Make The Cut software from Cricut looks like it is a really great program you may want to look into before purchasing SCAL. I think I may go with this program as you do not have to use Inkscape to break apart your SVG files, you can do it all in MTC. I use all my carts equally but Everyday Paper Dolls has tons of extras for all year round so that would be my suggestion. Home Decor is a very close second. Have fun!!!!!
