New Photos: My Mind's Eye "Sunshine" Album

Good morning!

Just a quick post with A TON of photos. I finished this little 5"x6.25" paper bag album yesterday and I am so excited with how it turned out. It is made from the Michael's brand "Celebrate It" paper bags and has a chipboard cover and canvas spine. As always, you can click to pictures to make them larger and see more details.

I did make a video, which I plan to get edited and uploaded over on my YouTube channel soon. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the photos & have a wonderful week!

  6. Thanks, Mary! I hope I can get the YouTube video ready to post soon. Mr. Lifeguard has three Torchwood episodes taking up space on the DVR, so maybe I will tell him to watch those this afternoon & get the editing done!

Grazie, Mary! Baci e abbracci! :D

So glad you liked the pictures, Nancy! This is a fiirst for me, because I usually only do videos or a video and a couple pictures. I've never really done a post with just pictures of an album. I like videos better because I like to see how everything works, so I'll get that up soon!

Monica, I am very excited! The book put up a bit of a fight at the end, but I got it done and I love how it looks. Thanks so much & I hope you enjoy the video, too!

Thank you so much, Rebecca! I really enjoy looking at and creating books that have lots of hidden details. So fun to explore a packed mini!

The yellow and grey was a new combination for me, Ann-Mari, but I really enjoyed working with it. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting!

  7. Kathryn - another amazing album - love the design and colors you used. They are not colors I would typically use but your brilliance yet again has reminded me to experiment with color!

  8. OMG!!! This was realy a loving FAB mini!!
Your colors are my favorites at the moment! Just loved everything about it!!
Thank you soooo much for your inspiration!!

  9. I like, I like .. you've got tons of room for pictures and journaling. TFS Looking forward to the video.

  10. Thanks, Steph! It is gorgeous paper ~ so much prettier in person with all the glitter.

I don't often use grey as my neutral as I seem to be more drawn to kraft and dark brown, but it makes a nice chage. Yellow and grey seem to look particularly sharp together for some reason. Maybe the coolness of the one paired with the warmth of the other? I hope you have fun experimenting with color, Robin, and thanks for stopping by!

You're so welcome, Torill! Thank you so much for your sweet comments. I have really been enjoying the combination of the yellow, grey and light blue, too! I am working on my second album in the color scheme now.

I hope to have the video up soon, Joyce! I am glad you liked the mini. I try very hard to include lots of places for photos and journaling, while still having lots of pretty elements.

  11. Yet ANOTHER beautiful album! There is what appears to be a punched piece in front of the embossed tree on one page that I love. So delicate. Hope you say in your video where that comes from. Thanks for sharing your work.

  12. Thanks, Vicki! That piece I used to line the pocket in front of the embossed tree is actually a die from Memory Box. It is the "Pristine Border" die and I love it ~ so delicate and lovely.

  13. Absolutely stunning work, as always. Really liked how everything went together. TFS and God Bless.

  14. I like the grey and yellow color scheme very much, and I love the randomness of the album. I like the "every page is different" aspect too. Some more inspiration and a chance for us to scraplift once more.

I know doing these shows and videos is a lot of work, but there are so many people touched by your work and inspiration as well as each other. A very supportive group. Thanks for the part you play.

  15. It's gorgeous. Looks like an acetate from Hambly in there too. Can't wait for the video to see how you used it. Something else we can scraplift!

    Thanks Kathryn!

  16. Such a beautiful mini album! I'm lovin' your choice of colors too. TFS :)

  17. Beautiful! Love the colour scheme and also that the pages are elegantly embellished but at the same time they are " allowing the papers to shine". Tfs, hugs, :D Vron

  18. Thank you, Diana! I am very pleased with how this one came out. It's got such a lovely, soft look & I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Judy, I really appreciate you taking the time to write about the videos and shows. It is a lot of work to do all these things, and I am so glad it is appreciated. I also love the community that has developed around the channel and projects ~ you guys are awesome!

Good eye, Barbara! That is a flocked transparency from Fancy Pants, but it has a similar look and feel to Hambly. I used it twice in th album to make some fun pockets, which you'll see on the video. :D

The yellow and grey are lovely together, aren't they, Margie? I love the soft, elegant look they have together & with the white and blue to keep everything light and airy. I want to use more grey in my albums as a different neutral from the krafts and browns.

Thanks, Vron! It was difficult to work with the papers towards the end and keep everything lovely and shining like that, but I did it! :D I think sometimes the papers can be TOO pretty, you know?

  26. Glad you got your pumpkin, Syd! I hate football, too, so it's a good way for us to spend Monday nights. :D Have a blast on your scrapbooking bus trip ~ that sounds really fun!

Hi & welcome, Serene! I am trying to be better about posting photos, but often I just forget to do it. It's just not a habit for me yet, but I am working on it!

Becky, for this album I used mostly the 6"x6" paper pad. I pretty much only used the 12"x12" papers to make the photo mats for the insides of the bags. The decorating on the bags was done mostl with the smaller paper pad with a few 12"x12" used here and there. Hope that helps!

  27. Kathryn, what a fabulous mini! You've done it again! Love this paper collection! Thanks so very much for sharing all the intricate embellishing ideas with us. That's where I usually get stuck doing the same old thing. Yours are so inspiring! You rock!

  29. Thank you so much, Pam! So glad you're enjoying the album & getting some new ideas for ways to embellish your pages. That is always my favorite part!

Deni, the album is made from the larger Michael's Celebrate It bags. The bags are folded to create the 5"x6.25" dimensiions. These bags can be found in a variety of colors and sizes in the party section of Michael's. The canvas is the Claudine Hellmuth Stick Back Canvas from Ranger. The album uses primariyl My Mind's Eye "Sunshine" papers from the Lost & Found 2 collection. The 6"x6" pad was used to decorate the bags & the 12"x12" papers were used for the large photo mats inside the bags. Other than that, the album uses manily dies, and other supplies from my scrap room.

  30. Awesome album, Kathryn. The papers are so pretty; love the color combo. Did you mention the name of the embossing folders you used? And I love the spellbinders you used. great tip about tracing to get 1/8 border. Too bad I'm not a good fussy cutter, lol. What happened to the delicate butterfly? Great tip on using the blue tape to remove the remies. TFS

  31. I am currently in the middle of a video series on YouTube for this album & you can see all the pages coming together. Including the one with the butterly, which for some reason, I forgot to take pictures of. The two main embossing folders I used in this album are from the same set ~ the leaves and the tree with the fence. That set is the Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders 2PK - Fall Set.

  35. Hello! I love this album! I do have a question with this album is it possible to make it using cardstock pages instead of paper bags? Thank you your videos are great.

    1. I think it would work just fine using cardstock pages/pockets instead of the paper bags. I have actually used the binding system with cardstock on other projects (like my tea folder on USTREAM) and it worked great!
