Happy Birthday to Me!

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

It's my birthday today ~ yay! I am turning 29 today! {That's 29 for the first time, not like I am really 32 and just saying that I am 29}

I love my birthday because I love getting presents. {Who doesn't!?} And I also enjoy reminding everyone that It Is All About Me. Even if it is only All About Me for 24 hours. :D

Anyway, I just opened my brand new Big Shot {yay!} and I am dying to go play with it! I also got two Quickutz alphabets to go with it ~ Stardust and Dragonfly ~ and I have so many ideas for them! Yippee!

  4. Happy Birthday to You,
    Happy Birthday to You,
    Happy Birthday Dear Kathryn.....

(it's a good thing you can substitute your voice over mine or your birthday gift to yourself might be a set of earplugs, lol).
Hope you are having a great day (which sounds like you are) and an even better year. Oh, to be 29 again (it is a long ago memory for me!!!). Enjoy your Big Shot. I love mine and use it quite a bit. I save all my cereal boxes, etc. and use the Big Shot to cut all kids of neat shapes from dies I had years ago when the original (red) Sizzix was first out. It also does an amazing job cutting felt. Have fun with it and once again, Happy Birthday! Nancy

  13. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes! I have already declared July 2010 my birthday month and told everyone to be ready! :D I'm thinking a HUGE PARTY is an absolute necessity!

Amy, if you are trying to decide between a Big Shot and a Cuttlebug, I did a three part series on die cutters and the comments on thos three posts were uber helpful to me in making my decision. You can view them here, here and here.

  14. Kathryn,
I'm a fan and watch your videos all the time. So helpful. You are so creative and really good at what you do!
I am hoping you can help me.....
I am looking to buy a big shot machine. Can you tell me about it. What dies do you own and would you recommend it? Does it cut chipboard easily? I am looking to buy some XL Bigz dies (scallop and brackets) and want to use it to cut out album pages from lightweight chipboard. Would this work well? What alphabets do you have? I know the machine takes many different brands, can you recommend some brands over others?
Thanks in advance for your advice. I hope you are enjoying your machine!
    Take Care,
    Diane

  15. Hi, Diane! Thank you for the lovely comments on my video! :D I'm not sure I am the best person to ask about the Big Shot since I haven't even had mine for a month yet & I only have two alphabets so far. Both of them are Quickutz: Stardust and Dragonfly. I love both of them! So far I am very impressed with the machine.

The Big Shot does cut chipboard, but the Quickutz dies do not. The Bigz dies do cut chipboard, and I want to get a few of those, too. Especially the ones for the mini albums ~ I know that you can use those to cut out chipboard album pages.

I hope that helps, but you definitely ould probably find better advice on other blogs from scrappers more experienced with die cutting.
