New Video: "Poor Bunny" 12"x12" Layout

Hi, everyone! I hope you're enjoying Life on the {Scrap}Beach!

I have a new video up over on my YouTube Channel for you today:

This layout is based on a sketch from the book Pagemaps by Becky Fleck & it's basically about me cutting the head of a chocolate Easter bunny. I've never actually done the whole chocolate bunny thing before, so I wanted to document my experience. I take pictures of weird stuff, I'm not going to lie. :)

I'm still not feeling the 12"x12" layouts, so I am going to work through the book one sketch at a time until something clicks. I figure I'll either get my inspiration back for the large layouts or I'll just say it's nothing but minis from here on out!

Thanks for watching!

  1. No! Don't give up on 12 x 12's!!! I enjoy watching you make them so much! I love the effect of the perfect pearls on grungepaper! Great idea. What settings did you use for cutting the grungepaper on your cricut? TFS!

  2. Hi there, Kathryn...oh dear, I know what you mean. I think because the 12x12s are so large, it almost seems like one needs to have more stuff on them? I've been doing nothing but minis for a year and a half now, and occasionally I may do a 12x12 if I have many pics that would look better on one layout. I stare at the 12x12 and then I walk away. What's the end result? Nothing. It sits there for a couple weeks. Lol. No matter, I'll always enjoy your vids. Thanks for all the effort that goes into them!

  3. Hi Kathryn -

I don't scrapbook. But I love your ideas and will incorporate them into cards or mini books. So I am always happy with anything you do - besides, your work is just awesome!

  6. Amy, I had the blade set on minimum speed and maximum pressure and the blade dial set to 6. It was the regular blade & I did multicut for total of two cuts. It worked just fine. I put the grungeboard smooth side/front side down so it would stick to the mat better. If you're cutting words, I would suggest mirroring the image so you can do the same. I stuck down much better that way.
