NEW VIDEO: Moc Bai - Bavet, 12"x12" Layout

Happy Friday, everyone!

Another layout for my sister's travel album! I am trying to kill this paper pad, but man it is hard. This is my fourth layout with this pad so far & I can't even see a dent. Now I realize why my paper stash always grows, no matter how long of a break I take from shopping - it seems like one paper pad will make like 50 layouts! Craziness!

In this case, it will be a good thing that paper pads last so long. All the travel layouts in this album will look cohesive, despite being from all over the world.

This 12"x12" layout is about the Moc Bai - Bavet International Border Crossing. This is the border crossing between Vietnam and Cambodia that is closest to Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh. For this layout, I printed the journaling on patterned paper and layered lots of cut-out tags from the collection together for a fun look.

Here are some pictures of the finished layout:

I filmed this layout coming together for my YouTube channel. You can watch the video below, or click this link to watch it over on YouTube: Moc Bai - Bavet.

I really enjoyed the whole process of creating this layout & I can't wait to dive back into this paper pad and make some travel layouts.

I hope you enjoy the project AND your weekends!

Kathryn :D

P.S. Have you ever used up an entire collection? If so, how did you do it?

  1. Are you saying we're SUPPOSED to use up an entire collection? That must be the root of my 'too much paper' problem! Thanks for helping me figure it out! Signed, Linda Myers, with too much paper, in Maine.

    1. That's what I'm thinking is the case of my "too much paper" problem. That, and the fact that I don't think it's actually a problem to have too much paper ... :D

  2. I did finally use up a 6x6 Halloween pad but it took me 3 years :-) I like to mix my paper pads on the same page so I don't get bored with just one. Love the layouts you're making.

    1. It would take longer to use up a single pad if you were constantly mixing and remixing your papers for each layout. That makes everything fresh, too!

  3. You crack me up Kathyn. Just finish watching Thursday nights Ustream. I know you were about to have a stroke but it cracked me up. I wish stuff that bothers you in your layout bothered me. Maybe my pages would look as beautiful as yours. Thanks for the inspiration :)

    2. Maybe amusing is a better word. UStream is what it is. Immature technology that is not growing as fast as we would like. When ever my husband comes from work with a frustrated angry look. I give him the look. Then he says, "I know, nobody died, there was no blood, poop, and vomit and nobody tried to tried to stab me with a pencil." You can only worry about what you can control. Which is producing awesome projects and being the best you you can be. One of these day somebody (not Ustream of course) will come up with the technology that transports you into our scrap room, like princess Leah appeared to Luke Skywalker. Would that be cooooollll!!! You would look good in the Cinnamon Bun hairdo. :) Have a great weekend.

    1. I've been having fun playing with the 12"x12" format. Mini albums are GREAT (love those, too) but these are done more quickly and it's very satisfying.

  5. I think the butterfly paper really took the layout up a notch. When I can bear to part with my paper I donate it to the woman's shelter and hospice where I volunteer. They love the scraps and embellies too.
