Biltmore Hotel 12"x12" Layout

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

I have a new video available on my YouTube Channel. This is a quick 12"x12" layout that works well for those times when you have a long story to tell since there's plenty of room for lots of journaling.

The layout itself is super simple and easy to complete. In fact, it's so quick and easy that the video is actually presented in real time. Sort of.

This is on of the rare times that I do my journaling on the computer. In this layout I wanted to write about the history of the Biltmore Hotel. There was a great deal to write and not a ton of space to do it. Thanks for watching ~ I hope you enjoy it!

  2. Thanks so much for watching & commenting, Ladybug! I really appreciate it! I agree that while the layout is simple, it's a good "go to" layout for something where you have lots of journaling and detail pics.

  3. Kathryn,
I LOVE the multi-pic in the 4X10 space! (yes, even I can do simple math, lol) I think that is the answer I've been searching for with the multi pictures on a single layout. I'm an old school scrapper where we made the page fit the pics we had that were already printed, by adjusting the print size before assembly, it makes it more adaptable. I do not have any photo editing software nor do I have a decent printer so I will have to go check out the web site you mentioned.
Thanks for the education and sharing.

  5. Hi, Jill!

It seems to be fixed now ~ your last comment has a link to your Blogger profile like normal. That is weird, though. I think Blogger has just been wonky lately ~ sometimes it won't even take MY comments!

When I first started scrapbooking, I didn't have a digital camera. Actually, I didn't even have a film camra ~ I used disposable cameras. So my only choice was 4"x6" matte or 4"x6" glossy. Then I got a digital camera, but had no editing software. I was able to make some adjustments in MS Publisher, the most common being putting two photos on a 4"x6" project to make two 3"x4" photos {or even four photos on a 4"x6" project to make four 2"x3" photos}. It was very time consuming, though, so I rarely did it & just cropped my pics "old school" style.

Things started to change when I upgraded my desktop to a machine that came with Adobe Photoshop Elements already installed. Once I figured out how to use it {steep learning curve on that one} it really cut down on the time spent resizing pics. Eventually, when I got my photo printer that gave me even more flexibility because I could print any size I wanted. Now I make a lot of photo collages for my layouts like the one in this video {and the next vdeo coming up has one as well} and also print lots of smaller pictures for my mini albums.

I've heard good things about Picasa, which is the program I mentioned in the video. I've also heard excellent things about a free download editor called GIMP. And I believe that Adobe offers a free download trial of Photoshop Elements, too, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Good luck with whatever you decide & have fun!
