"Big Pinks" Mini Album, Part Three

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

Well, first off, I'm sure you've noticed that things look a little different around here! What do you think? I liked the way it looked before, but this one feels more scrappy and summery to me & not just as plain beachy.

I also just uploaded the third video in my "Big Pinks" series over on my YouTube Channel. This is a 5"x5" chipboard mini album which I am using to highlight photos of all the flamingos I've seen down here! The supplies came from the July 2009 Girls Gone Scrappy mini album kit.

Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoyed it!

  1. I really like this album, flamingos are so cute. You're lucky you can see flamingos where you live. I would have to go to a zoo to find some, and that's really not the same as to see them in the wild.
    Can't wait for part four!:)

  3. Hi, Marthe! I agree, flamingos are such funny birds! With their necks, and the way they stand on one foot ~ too cute! I love how much wildlife there is down here. When my sister was visiting we went for a drive in the Everglades and saw alligators in the wild, cranes, turtles and all sorts of other birds and animals!

Thanks, Jill! I'm glad you like both the projects and the video style!

  6. Very nice. Did you say you altered the color of the ring w/ alcohol ink? I want to do that now! All the big rings I have (2" & 3") are silver metal and would love to color them to match my albums' themes. Did you have to sand first or just went at it with the ink? Several times or did just one application do it?

    Thanks as always!

  7. Yes, Liz, I altered the color of the ring with alcohol inks. The ink will always take better if you sand the metal first, but I didn't. The reason why is because ... I'm lazy. :D I just went after it with the ink. I did more than one application of ink, but not two full applications.

The second application was just to fill in any spaces that were not as covered as others ~ either because I touched it when it was wet or just plain old missed it. It's the second time I've used alcohol inks to color my larger office-supply store silver rings, and I think I'm going to start ding it more often. I really liked how it turned out both times!
