New Video: Flora & Fauna Paper Bag Album Progress ...

... or lack thereof, depending on your view of things!

This past Saturday was the April 2011 Virtual Crop on The Beach & by all accounts it was one of the best we have ever had {if not THE best}, so a big thank you to Olga of ArtMingle, Inc. and everyone else who joined in and made it such a good time! For my crop project, I worked on my Kathy Orta inspired paper bag album with the K & Company "Flora and Fauna" collection. You can see Kathy's original design + some minor modifications of mine here: My Take on Kathy Orta's Paper Bag Album. To see Kathy's original video, click here: The Original Kathy Orta Paper Bag Album. She has a very inspiring nine part series on assembling the bags and decorating them with the Tim Holtz "Lost and Found" collection.

We had so much fun laughing and joking around at the crop this weekend that I only got one bag completely finished, but it sure looks pretty! I am a little bit in love with it, I have to admit. To see the completed bag {plus two super awesome new DCWV paper pads I picked up for $9.99 at JoAnn's on Saturday during the break between crops} check out the latest upload over on my YouTube Channel. You can watch the video below, or on YouTube by clicking this link: Paper Bag Album Update.

To see the bag coming together, check out these UStream recordings from the crop:
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
Part Four
Part Five {includes binding instructions}

So what's the plan for the rest of this album? Well, I have decided that it will be my next UStream project following the completion of the "Family Circus" album with the Graphic 45 "Le Cirque" collection. Once that album is done {and it is getting close to being finished!} then I will begin working on this exclusively. I will post YouTube updates once each bag is complete & I will show the bags "before & after" without and with photos, so you can see what this album looks like once it has photos and journaling in it. When I do the YouTube update for the completed second bag, I will show the first bag again with photos and journaling. I think it will be fun to see how an album like this looks both ways.

I'll be sure to post and let you know when we are starting to work on this album again, so you can follow along if you like! From this point forward, I will have all the papers inked and attached to the bags before I stream so we will just be doing the decorating {the fun part!} from now on.

  2. Ringraziarla, Marisa! Baci!

  4. I love your videos! Your work is beautiful! I do not know where all your ideas come from. Very creative. Please keep on showing us how to make mini albums. It is VERY much appreciated. Also, I happen to really like when you do haul videos as it shows us what is new out there. I love the New Stacks that you showed, but I guess I will not be able to get them as we do not live close to a Joanne's. I love the one with all the gears as I find it very hard to find masculine paper. These would suit my husbands type of work very well. Maybe, the pads will eventually get into other stores? Cross my fingers. Thanks for all you do for the scrapbooking community. Cheers to you!

  5. Dearest Kathryn--What a fun crop !!! You should make it a requirement to have Olga and "drinks" every month. How fun was THAT!!! I am perched on the edge of my chair till you do more on the Flora & Fauna mini. Love what i see so far but need more confidence to cut into my papers. Also love that you "disect" inks, cutters and show us techniques. Please keep up the good work and talent you have---YOU are such a joy. Thank you Margaret Morris

  7. Love this album. Not all Joann's stores are carrying this paper at this time. I sent my sister out looking for it where she lives and they don't have it and haven't heard of it. Maybe they will get it in later. Keep doing these wonderful videos.

  10. Beth, I love this mini album, too! Thanks so much to Kathy for her awesome idea! :D I have been working on getting all the bags covered with paper so when I am ready to work on it again, there is only the decorating left to do & it is so fun to sit with all these pretty papers and layer them together for a beautiful effect!

Anonymous, thank you so much for the lovely compliments on my work and videos ~ I am so glad you are enjoying everything & you are certainly welcome for all of it! :D I think the paper stacks will eventually shop up at JoAnn.com, just like Mariposa did, so those in the USA who don't live near a JoAnn's will probably have access to it eventually. I showed the "Tattered Time" pad to Mr. Lifeguard to see what he thought & he really liked it, so I think I may make a life book for him with it. :D

Margaret, it was such a fun crop! I definitely think I should have in room guests more often, too ~ that added so much to the whole "crop" feel! Glad you could join us & that you had a great time ~ I can't wait until we are back to working on this album, either!

So glad you're feeling better & we get to enjoy your company again, Oz! Love you, too! It's too bad we didn't get to have you for the whole crop, but I certainly enjoyed your banter while you were there! :D

Shutterbug5, DCWV has said the pads are shipping out the first two weeks of April, so they may not be in all the JoAnn's stores yet. Mine may just have gotten theirs earlier than others, so don't lose hope! :D They will probably end up online, too, just like Mariposa eventually did.

Aw, poor Lois! Working is not nearly as fun as cropping! Glad you're enjoying the recordings, even if they're not quite the same. :D

Thank you so much, Zeffy! I'm glad you liked what you've seen of the album so far! I hope you can get access to the papers soon, if you're so inclined.
