August Trade Mini, Part Two

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

*UPDATE: The video is working now ~ sorry about that!*

I just uploaded the second video of my August trade album video series over on my YouTube Channel. I hope my trade partner likes it!

Almost all the paper in this album came from the K & Company "Black & Ivory Fusion" paper pad. I got it at Michael's. Embellishments are from all over the place ~ my scraproom, Michael's, etc.

Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoyed it!

  4. I love those glimmer mist pages!!! I need some!!! I can't get over how completely different and awesome that black and white paper looked! I would love to see how you made it. The two tags were the ones I would love to see you tie the ribbon for. The ones without staples. My knots are always so bulky and messy and yours are nice and flat. I guess it is simple but I can't quite get it right yet.

  5. Amy, I made those papers using the same technique as the glimmer mist tags from the first video. Basically, I just put the papers in the box and sprayed them with the mists randomly & then dried them with my heat gun. It was exactly the same technique, just a larger format.

Next time I am attaching a ribbon to a tag, I will make sure to go slow so you can get a good look. I actually use Glue Dots to hold the ribbon flat, so I will try to show you.

  7. Woot-woot! Lovely, just lovely. Black and White combo is a classic and always looks elegant. Liking those glimmer mist thingies - gotta get me some of those (are they available at Michaels?). I've always used acrylic paints on my projects but I love how easy these mists are, and it looks like you can control it easily -make it subtle or heavier. I wanted to buy some Maya mists but they were a bit spendy at my LSS and I wanted several colors so, I just decided to skip it. The paper, too, is so pretty. I've enjoyed using many of the K & Co lines and I think I'll check this out on my next trip to M.

Hope your summer's going very well, Kathryn. I haven't had a chance to scrap as I've been gallivanting too much with family. You know what that's like (you lived in VA before, right?). You're trying to cram as much summer fun in the few months to tide you over the L-O-O-O-O-N-G winter months, kwim?

    Thanks for the great video!

  8. Oh, Steff, that is not even all of my bling. I admit to having a serious bling obsession! :D Ooops.

Hi, Liz! The Glimmer Mists are pretty pricey, too, which is why I only have two and a half {the small bottle was a free sample from a crop goodie bag}. I do love them now, though, so I might start collecting them as I can.

My summer is going well. I have been doing quite a bit of traveling this month, and I am tired, let me tell you. I have tons of pictures stacking up on my hard drive to scrap, though, so that's a good thing. The biggest differece is that the nice weather here is while you're buried under a snow drift. I have a friend who lives in Naperville, so I make a habit of teling her the temperature every time we talk from September through May.

She wants me to come to visit in October, but I think that will be WAY too cold for me. Shiver.

  10. Arlene, you like butterflies!? I never knew! :D Library pockets are probably the easiest of all the pockets to make. Very easy to customize to the size of the project. Have a great day & thanks for watching!

  11. I love the album thus far!! Great work.
It appears you adhere the pages to the chipboard pages last? Do you glue them on or use ATG tape when adhering to the album pages? Just wondering what technique you use.
Keep up the great work, and I am very grateful that you share your albums and techniques via video.
    :)

  12. Hi, ddbug! Glad you're enjoying the project so far! I don't always create the pages separately from the album and then glue them down last ~ this is the second album I've used that technique {the first was the paper bag album} ~ but when I do, I use my ATG to adhere the decorated page to the album page. I don't really care for glue sticks or other wet glues, so I just use my ATG.
