Giveaway Alert!

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the Scrap(beach)!

I just wanted to do a quick post today to let you know about a giveaway on another blog: Craft Craving Chicas.

The prize package is a little hush hush, but it does include a BasicGrey paper pad and some Maya Road to go along with it. I've checked out their site and they do great work with the kits that they sell, so I think they will probably put something very nice together for this giveaway.

Anyway, just giving you a heads up! You can enter to win by leaving a comment on their blog here ~ it's that simple!

  1. Hey, Kathryn...thanks for the giveaway link. Hope things are going well with you and your readers.

Thought I'd mention a couple of things here. Remember when you directed me to the clearly heavy overlays at Hambly? I love those things even though they're approx $4 a piece. Just love them! Well, last week I was checking out some stuff at scrapbook.com and came across Grafix's Clear Craft Plastic and ordered some (the 12x12, 4-in-a-pack comes out to approx $1.50 each). I tried them and they're really very easy to work with, just a tad thinner than Hambly's, but still much thicker and sturdier than regular acetate. Just thought I'd mention in case you or your readers may be looking for a cheaper alternative. (Nothing against Hambly--I love their stuff, esp the overlays, and they send generous freebies every time you order!)

Also, I noticed you use the Making Memories small alphas that come in the small packets. I love those, too, and use a ton of them all the time. However, I began using My Little Shoebox, which is packaged very similarly and I found the stickers to actually have better adhesive than MM's. And cheaper, and so many different colors. I actually ordered all the colors I could find last week and have been very pleased with the quality. Got them at 2 Peas. With MM's, I've been applying acid-free Mod Podge over the places where I've put the stickers to make sure they stay stuck and don't peel off over time. I don't have to do that with MLS's. Again, just putting it out there as a cheaper alternative without sacrificing quality.

Have a fantastic day...will check back again soon! Take care.

  2. Hi, Liz! That is so cool about the Grafix transparencies/overlays ~ thanks! I didn't know that there was an alternative to the Hambly ones. That is great news since is sounds like they are VERY reasonably priced. I know where I'm going when I run out of my current batch.

I will also have to check out the MLS letters, too, when I run low on the MM ones! I actually have quite a few because they were very hard to find for a while and so I really stocked up once they became readily available again.

Great ideas & thanks for sharing! This is what I miss about having a community of scrappers near me geographically and was hoping for with this blog ~ sharing ideas, tips, shopping tricks, etc.
