Binderie on Sale at Two Peas In A Bucket!

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

I just wanted to do a quick post and let you know about an awesome deal on the 7 Gypsies Binderie Punch + FREE Starter Kit over at Two Peas in a Bucket for just $19.98! That's 50% off!

There's been quite a bit of discussion about this tool in the comments here, so I thought I'd let you know about the deal they have going on right now! I finally took the plunge and bought one this morning ~ had to tell my husband to take it off the birthday list because it was too good a deal to pass up! :D

  1. That's awesome, I really, really, really want a Binderie but isn't 2p's shipping outrageously expensive? If I had to pay $20 in shipping I could pay $40 here at my LSS.
Fill me in if I'm severely misguided, (lol...it wouldn't be the 1st time!)

  2. I've heard their shipping is on the high side, but I never pay shipping there. Each month they have a code in their newsletter for free shipping over $50.00, and since their inventory is so great, I always have a wishlist of things that I want to get from them but am not in a rush to get.

When there is something I'm in a rush to get {like the Binderie} I add stuff from my wishlist to my cart until I hit $50.00 and can get their free shipping. I don't have a good/convenient LSS so that's not really an option for me ~ this also helps me weed out things I just kind of want vs. really want since I wait for a while before I buy most things that catch my eye.

  3. Thanks for the info. I just pulled everything out of my cart except for the Binderie and it was only $8 to ship so it still saved me the $12+ I have never ordered there so I don't have a monthly newsletter for free shipping. Hopefully one will start now. Thanks a ton for the info - more mini-album options!!

  4. Hey, Jill, any time you need the code just let me know ~ I'll be happy to forward the newsletter to you! :D

Enjoy your Binderie ~ I'm excited to be finally getting mine!

  5. Oh no! I should have waited. Paid $39.99 for mine. Oh well...I also take advantage of 2 Peas free shipping. Same thing--I put an item or two at a time as I need/want then checkout when I've reached $50. Sure beats the S&H I used to pay at other online stores.

There's one whose name escapes me. Great sales all the time and I used to get very excited and load up. I'd get to checkout and the shipping is almost 35-40% of the gross!

Ladies, I can almost guarantee you'll LOVE your Binderie. Happy scrapping, all!

  6. Aw, Liz! :( That sucks, but you have a GREAT attitude about it. :D You just never know with sales. At least you didn't pay shipping!

I hate it when a store sucks me in with a sale only to find out during checkout that their shipping prices are so high I won't save any money at all! UGH!

I wish someone would open an Archiver's next door to me. Now THAT would be NICE!

  7. You'll be glad to know that the Binderie punches chipboard effortlessly. I'm working on the panoramic album (Scenic Route) you used in one of your videos, Kathryn, and the board is fairly thick. I wanted a third ring to hold the album together and it only comes with two holes. I just marked the center of each page and punched a middle hole so I could accomodate three rings. Smooth as silk. No extra effort expended, very neat holes, took me a couple of minutes for the whole thing. If there is one negative I can think of, it's that you need 6 AA batteries to run it or buy an adapter separately. Just my opinion, but I think it should just have come with it. But no big deal.

Off to watch your video on this again. The rather unusual size of 5x9 is a nice change of pace for me.

Btw, I finished a mini for my dad (88 yrs old!)last night for Father's Day, depicting his youth to the present and in it was a pic of him in his army uniform taken in 1946. My mom just saw the finished product and she almost cried...she's fairly certain that dad will be touched. Sometimes I forget how meaningful these photos are and the feelings/thoughts/hopes they convey until they're showcased in such a way.

Off to watch now...have a safe and happy day!

  8. How do I get the Newsletter to ge the Shipping Code? I've never order either because of the shipping cost - but this code deal sounds great?

  9. Liz, thanks for letting us know about your Binderie! I am so looking forward to being the day when I can just cover my chipboard with paper and then punch all the holes ONCE! :D

That Scenic Route panoramic album is a little funky between the size and the windows, but I really loved working on it ~ it was a fun challenge to step outside the box!

I think people do forget about how meaningful photos are sometimes. When you grab an album down from a shelf, whether it's a scrapbook album or a regular photo album, it always brings back a ton of memories. It's so great that you did that for your dad and that your mom liked it so much ~ you must be so proud of your work!

Have fun watching the princess album series again!

  10. Liz again here. Kathryn, wonder if you can help me with something. Working on the panoramic mini right now and realized I’d like to add acetate pages here and there (on yours, you used as a topper to your cover). I’m thinking every other page and really getting creative with front & back on each. Problem is the acetates I have are rather thin and will flop about. They’re the ones used for presentations before PowerPoint came along, kwim?

The acetate you used seemed sturdier (thicker?), and seem to hold up very well. What are the brand and source? I shopped around and really couldn’t tell from descriptions. I’m also thinking about acrylic. Have you used those in minis?

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Hi, Liz! I usually use the Hambly Clearly Heavy overlays to add clear covers and sheets to chipboard albums, and I order them directly from Hambly. They have awesome customer service and always include extra goodies with your order! The clear sheets I used on the "Princess" and "Beach" albums were from Hambly.

They are a little on the pricey side compared to normal scrapbook paper, so I am careful with how I cut them to make them really last, but they are awesome to work with. They are thicker than an acetate transparency, and not as thick as say a typical sheet of acrylic like you would get from the hardware store. That makes them sturdier than a transparency {so they don't flop around as much} but still pretty easy to cut down or punch through or round the corners without the splitting and cracking you get with the heavier sheets of acrylic that don't bend at all.

I have used sheets of acrylic in minis. I got them from two poster frames we had that broke in our move. I use those to make acrylic albums, but they are a HUGE PAIN to work with, in my opinion. They split and crack & are hard to cut through. I used a box cutter and a ruler to cut mine & it took forever. The edges were sharp and I had to sand them down, and I had to drill holes instead of punch & even then they sometimes split, even after I masked off the area with tape. UGH!

Now, I have since read the tip that you can use your heat gun to soften the thicker acrylic sheets and then it will cut and punch like butter. It will warp a little when it gets hot, but you can flatten it out pretty easily before it cools again {or so I've reard ~ haven't tried it yet}. So I plan to try that the next time I'm in the mood for an all acrylic album & want something thicker than the Hambly Overlays.

How was that ~ clear as mud? :D

  12. Wow--you've given me some terrific stuff here. Off to Hambly! I can tell I'm gonna have some real creative fun with these.

(Not keen on all that work for acrylic lol!)

    You're a treasure--thanks much!
