Video: Beach Mini Album, Part Two

Hi, everyone! Welcome back to Life on the {Scrap}beach!

I just uploaded a new video over on my YouTube Channel. This is Part Two of my 5"x5" custom chipboard album. This segment has quite a bit of stamping and embossing and some other fun techniques, so I hope you enjoy it!

This little album is decorated with papers and embellishments from the Heidi Grace "Beyond the Sea" line. If you like these products, I have good news, because they're actually on sale right now at Two Peas in a Bucket for 50% off!

Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoyed it!

  1. Very nice, Kathryn! I looked at your slide show on this also so I can remember what the finished product looks like. Really, really adorable and perfect for a summer mini. I know you created some of the half-pages here but it seems like the album also came with chipboard half pages. Am I looking at it right -- did the album come with those?

  2. Hi, Liz! Thanks so much ~ I was very happy with how it turned out!

While it is true that I frequently alter albums I purchase to add different sized pages, acrylic sheets, etc., this is not one of those times. I made this entire album from 12"x12" sheets of raw chipboard that I cut down, so it is totally custom. The full-sized pages are 5"x5" and there are also 2"x5" pages and 3"x5" pages {I think those are the half sheets you mentioned}.

This is why I am so looking forward to my 7 Gypsies Binderie coming ~ I get awfully tired of punching the holes on these custom albums!

    Thanks for watching!

  3. Super! I know you've got a Rotatrim (?) Is that what you use to cut them down or good old fashioned metal ruler & craft knife? Askin' because knife and ruler are all I have while I'm saving for a Dahle. My Fiskars just ain't cuttin' it (excuse the pun). Nothing ever comes out squared and I'm constantly changing blades (ack!). You know why I'm askng, don't you -- a customized book is very appealing to me, so much so I'm imagining the unusual sizes I can create. Yes!

  4. Yes, the Rotatrim M15 is what I use to cut down the chipboard. I have a Fiskars trimmer, but I only use it to cut out the insides of things since I can position the blade to cut wherever I want. It just isn't completely straight, like you said, so I hate using it to cut down paper.

Before I had the Rotatrim, I used a metal ruler and a heavy-duty box-cutter/carpet knife {likefrom a hardware store} with one of those snap-off/breakaway blades. My metal ruler actually has a thin cork backing to keep it from slipping around, but it still wasn't exactly ideal {kind of time consuming compared to the Rotatrim}. For decorative edge albums, I used and still use my Tonic serrated blade scissors.

    Hope that helps!

  10. Thank you girlfriend! I love the way you use the embossing powder. It makes paper so much more dimensional, imo.
Hope all are doing well, I feel out of touch..lol
I have company here from Az for the next 10 days but will try to check in and see whats new from time to time.
My binderie came today and I am DYING to go up to the studio and PLAY!! Oh well...I'm loving my company also.

how are things coming with the online group crop???

  11. Hey, Jill, I hope you have fun with your company!

I know what you mean ~ I feel like I haven't been around much. I've been busy with some non-scrapping things lately.

I haven't gotten any farther with the online crop because I am stymied by a lack of any electrical device in my house that can stream video other than my webcam which isn't very good on picking up the details of any scrapping I would be doing.

I will post details as soon as I have a solution, but it is good to know that people are interested!

Thanks so much for the lovely comments on the blog. Embossing powder scared me in the beginning, but nw I am addicted! :D
